In the grinding process, the working surface of bearings is ground by high-speed rotating grinding wheel. Therefore, if the equipment is not operated and adjusted according to the operation instructions during grinding, various roughness defects will appear on the working surface of bearings, which will affect the overall quality of bearings.
In precision grinding of bearings, due to high surface roughness requirements, grinding marks on the working surface can often be observed by the naked eye. There are mainly the following surface grinding marks. (Roughness tester is recommended for roughness detection)
 

Fish scales appear on the surface

The main reason for the reproduction of fish scale marks on the surface is that the cutting edge of grinding wheel is not sharp enough, and the phenomenon of “gnawing” occurs during grinding, and the workpiece is caused by large vibration at this time.

 

► The specific reasons for the appearance of fish scale marks on the surface are:

 

1. There is garbage and oil dirt on the grinding wheel surface;

2. The grinding wheel is not round dressed;

3. The grinding wheel becomes dull. Trim is not sharp enough;

4. Diamond fastening frame is not firm, diamond shaking or diamond quality is not good or sharp;

5. Uneven hardness of grinding wheel.

 

Face hair pulling

The main reason of surface appearance is that the coarse abrasive particles fall off and are sandwiched between the workpiece and grinding wheel.

 

►The specific reasons why the workpiece surface is pulled during grinding are as follows:

1. The traces left by coarse grinding are not worn off during fine grinding;

2. Coarse abrasive particles and small abrasive particles in the coolant are not filtered cleanly;

3. The abrasive particles of coarse-grain grinding wheel are easy to fall off when it is just dressed.

4. Toughness period of material or grinding wheel is too soft;

5. Improper matching between abrasive toughness and workpiece material toughness, etc.
