Chamfering is a term in mechanical engineering. In order to remove burrs generated by machining and facilitate assembly of parts, chamfering is generally made at the end of parts.  In fact, chamfering can be seen everywhere in our life, such as mobile phone frame, toughened doors, vases and so on.

1. Bearing steel must have chamfering when roughing before heat treatment, which plays a very important role in the heat treatment of the material, the release of stress, the redistribution of the internal organizational structure, the occurrence of cracks, and the reduction of deformation.  Chamfering can solve the problem of stress concentration.

2, chamfering deburring, so that the product is not sharp, will not cut the user.

3. It plays a guiding and positioning role in assembly.

Usually, the outer chamfering of the outer ring and the inner chamfering of the inner ring of the bearing are rounded. In addition to effectively avoiding contact stress, the most important thing is convenient installation.  Rounded corners ensure a good transition load.

Especially in the bearing process, the positioning surface of the matching shaft and shaft hole, that is, the shoulder and the shoulder part of the bearing seat, the chamfering size of this part directly affects whether the bearing can be installed correctly.

From the figure above, we can see that the bearing is loaded between the axle box and the axle, and its chamfering is larger than that of the bearing box and the axle shoulder. The chamfering of the bearing must be larger than this arc to ensure that the bearing fits to the axial positioning surface.

As shown in the figure above, when the bearing chamfering is less than the chamfering of the bearing box and the shaft shoulder, it cannot be assembled in place, which is easy to cause a series of problems such as stress concentration at the bearing chamfering, assembly tilt, and failure of other matching parts.
