Axial positioning of bearings – inner ring positioning

In order to prevent the bearing from axial movement when bearing axial load, the bearing is applied axial positioning device on the shaft and in the shell hole. The selection of bearing positioning mode on the shaft and in the shell hole depends on the size and direction of the load acting on the shaft, the speed of the bearing, the type of the bearing, the position of the bearing on the shaft, etc. The greater the axial load, the higher the bearing speed, the more reliable the axial positioning should be. For different types of bearings, the way of axial positioning should also be different. Such as diagonal contact ball bearings and tapered roller bearings can choose the shoulder and shell hole of the shoulder one-way support, without the use of special positioning device, the ring in the axial movement can be supported by the bearing itself.

Positioning of bearing inner ring

When the bearing inner ring is installed on the shaft, it is generally fixed by the shaft shoulder at the position of the bearing on one side, and the other side is fixed with a nut, stop washer or spring stop ring.

(1) Nut positioning

In the case of high bearing speed and large axial load, the end face of the nut in contact with the bearing inner ring should be perpendicular to the rotating center line of the shaft, otherwise, even if the nut is tightened, the installation position of the bearing and the normal working state of the bearing will be damaged, and the bearing rotation accuracy and service life will be reduced. In particular, when the bearing inner hole is matched with the shaft, it needs to be strictly controlled.

In order to prevent nut loose in the process of rotation, it is necessary to take appropriate technical measures to prevent loosening: the use of nut and stop washer positioning, the key teeth of the stop washer into the keyway of the shaft, and then one of the teeth on the outer ring bending into the nut cut.

(2) spring stop ring positioning

In the bearing bearing axial load is not large, the speed is not high, the wheelbase is short and it is difficult to process thread on the journal, the rectangular section of the elastic ring can be used for positioning. This method is convenient for loading and unloading, occupies a small position and is simple to manufacture.

(3) Thrust gasket positioning

When the journal is short, it is difficult to process threads on the journal, the bearing speed is high, and the axial load is large, gasket positioning can be used. That is, the gasket is positioned on the end face of the shaft with more than two screws, and the stop gasket or wire is screwed to prevent loosening.

(4) Fixed sleeve positioning

Self-aligning roller bearings bearing low rotational speed, bearing steady radial load and small axial load, can be installed on the optical shaft by means of conical set sleeve. The locking sleeve is positioned with nuts and stop washers. The bearing is positioned by the friction force of the nut lock.

(5) Bearing positioning with taper inner hole

Bearing with taper in the inner hole is installed on the taper shaft, so that the axial load is always pressed against the shaft and bearing, so attention should be paid to the directionality of the taper in the inner hole when installing. If the bearing is located at the shaft end and can be threaded at the shaft end, it can be positioned directly with the nut. If the bearing is not mounted on the shaft end and the shaft is not allowed to be threaded, in this case two halves of the combined thread ring can be clamped into the groove of the shaft and the bearing can be positioned with a nut.

(6) Special positioning

In some special cases, when the shoulder and fillet dimensions of the shaft cannot be determined, the transition gasket can be used as the axial support.
